The 2022 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship heads to Mount Panorama this week for the penultimate round, and it is no ordinary weekend: rain is forecast, 31 cars are entered and three races are on the schedule.

The previous round at Sandown feels a long way back for Harri Jones. In the break he travelled to Europe, where he watched the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Monza as a spectator and brought home lessons for this weekend.

The format is tight. There is a single 50-minute practice session on Thursday morning, followed by 20 minutes of qualifying in the afternoon. After that it is one race a day, with the final race on Sunday ahead of the Bathurst 1000.

Jones has done hundreds of laps of Mount Panorama, but rain adds a new set of challenges. He notes that a red flag in practice could cut the 50 minutes down to 10 or 15, so preparation has been key. He has put in time on his simulator and gone back through onboard footage from previous years on the Mountain.

He says he feels confident and trusts his ability, his processes and his team. The approach is race by race, and the focus now is on execution.

All sessions will be televised and streamed live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo, with races also free-to-air on Channel 7.

Fans at the track are invited to come and say hello and see the Hastings Deering Porsche GT3 up close.
