Six months into 2024, Harri Jones has taken stock of a season he describes as unlike any other.
"Six months into 2024! Where has that time gone," he wrote. "Our season so far has been one unlike any other."
This year Jones has been juggling driving, study, managing Jones Motorsport and growing the business. He said the challenges were new to him but had given him a real sense of purpose and achievement.
Carrera Cup
On track, the results speak for themselves. After three of eight rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship, Jones leads the standings with five race wins, two pole positions and two round wins.
He said he feels at one with the car and at home working with Porsche Centre Melbourne Motorsport.
"I honestly feel at home," he said.
The season opener at the Australian Grand Prix stood out. Jones won two races there in front of a huge crowd, and in front of a team that had worked hard to get back to the front.
"The opening round at the Australian Grand Prix has been one of my career highlights to date," he said.
Jones Motorsport
Off track, Jones has stepped into the team manager and engineer role at Jones Motorsport, and he says the team has improved significantly.
Ramu Farrell, in the #888 car in the Porsche Sprint Challenge, has won multiple Pro-Am races, taken podiums and is a championship contender. Jones said working with Farrell has taught him a lot about the 991.2 Cup Car.
Mark Darling is racing in the Queensland Production Sports Championship, where he recently won his first race and leads the standings.
The aim, Jones said, is simple: "we want to run the best team on the grid".
Study
Jones has been studying engineering at The University of Queensland since 2018 and is now in his final semester, with his bachelor's degree close. He said the engineering applies directly to his driving and his team, and the work ethic, structure and management skills have helped across his life.
What's next
A big month of testing is ahead for Jones and Jones Motorsport. Carrera Cup's next round is the Sydney Supercars night race in July, and Sprint Challenge heads to Queensland Raceway in August.
The team is "pushing hard to prepare for a big back half of the season", he said.
