The 2024 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge is under way, and Jones Motorsport's Ramu Farrell has been one of the standout drivers in the Pro-Am class. After two rounds he has shown consistent speed and determination and collected valuable points.
At Round 1 at Phillip Island, Farrell finished second in Pro-Am in race one, then third in races two and three. That gave him second in the Pro-Am standings for the weekend and a Pro-Am podium trophy, which he celebrated alongside team manager Harri Jones.
At Round 2 at The Bend in South Australia, Farrell took his second pole position of the season and converted it into his first win of the year. It was also the first Porsche Motorsport Australia win for Jones Motorsport.
Farrell fought for the lead again in races two and three. Contact and car damage ended both races late on.
After two rounds he sits fourth in the Pro-Am standings, and Jones Motorsport has established itself as a strong presence in the Porsche paddock.
"Ramu has done a great job so far this season," Jones said.
Jones praised Farrell's pace and said that, given his limited racing experience, he had exceeded expectations. Once the mistakes are ironed out and Farrell has more races under his belt, Jones said, he will be a genuine championship contender.
With two of five rounds complete, three remain. Farrell and the team are set for a competitive run through the rest of the season.
